At the intermediate levels students focus on developing creativity through variation and composition; analysis and music theory; a good, responsive piano technique; and a solid, musical performance of repertoire.

Advancing intermediate pianist are evaluated and grouped by ability as they work in the partner-group atmosphere. Students are exposed to repertoire from the Baroque period up to the present day and play music from influential composers. Knowledge and understanding allow students to formulate their own musical tastes.
