Class Time: Weekly; 1-hour

Keyboard West has early skill level classes for all ages. Students are interviewed and grouped by age and ability to work in the partner-group atmosphere.

From the very first class, students work together to “make music” and inspire each other to succeed. Students develop the following skills and abilities:

• knowledge of keyboard geography
• sight-reading
• ear training
• technique
• repertoire
• improvisation

Students receive individual attention while working to perfect solo and ensemble repertoire. Students are encouraged to make variations of songs and compose original songs in question and answer format.

Four “open classes” are planned throughout the year where students perform in a non-threatening atmosphere. Other performance opportunities include a piano festival and a spring recital. Practice required.
